Every February, when the Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo takes place, the country becomes a vibrant crossroads for energy executives, delegates, investors, journalists, and other global stakeholders. This year, it will be held on February 17 – 20, 2026, at the Georgetown Marriott Hotel. With local and international attention on our energy sector, specifically offshore oil and gas, the demand for comfortable, reliable, convenient, and business-ready accommodation surges. Busy professionals need a place to sleep, connect to the mountain of emails they must answer after a day at the conference, unwind after a long day, and easy access to the conference and other local favourite spots.

In this piece, I am going to share not only the most popular places where business travellers choose to stay during the Energy Conference week, but also the reasons behind their choices and some potential negatives you should be aware of before making that final decision.

Georgetown Marriott Hotel

Home of the Conference

If you are looking for easy transportation to the conference and are a Marriott Bonvoy member seeking to earn some points, look no further. The Georgetown Marriott Hotel in Kingston is your ideal choice, as it is the conference's home. Your transportation time to any event is just a 5-minute walk down the hall. The property is fully equipped with a breakfast buffet,   beautiful pool and gym, ocean-view rooms, a central location for events outside the conference, and easy access for conference staff. Sounds perfect, right? Well, in most cases, it is. However, there can be drawbacks to staying at the heart of all the busyness.

With multiple restrictions in and around the hotel for the conference and the number of delegates staying at the Marriott (especially first-time visitors), lines and waiting times for taxis and some services will be longer than usual. Also, for some visitors, once locked into the hotel and in work mode, it can become very easy not to want to leave. The conference presents many after-hours networking opportunities in and around Georgetown, which are equally or even more important than those in the conference, and should be taken

King’s Hotel & Residences

City-centre convenience with a professional edge

King’s Hotel & Residences and its new sister hotel Jewelz by King’s sit comfortably in the middle ground — centrally located, modern, and well-suited for professionals who want easy access to Georgetown’s business districts, restaurants, and social hotspots. It is a 5 to 10-minute drive to the conference and also boasts two of the best upscale bars in the city centre for after conference drinks (Bistro and Champoreau). Many delegates choose King’s for its contemporary rooms and proximity to after-hours networking dinners that pop up across the city during conference week.

It’s especially popular with professionals who value flexibility and privacy – close enough to the conference to attend events without hassle, but far enough away to avoid the most intense congestion and extra security restrictions. If you are a true hotel buff like me who also needs a pool, this will be the only downside for both of the King’s properties. Neither property has a pool for guests to enjoy, nd only the Jewelz has a gym.

Four Points by Sheraton Georgetown

New kid on the block with comfort and brand familiarity

For professionals who value a recognised international brand but prefer a slightly calmer environment than the conference hub itself, the new Four Points by Sheraton is a strong contender. While not fully open (some areas still under construction), the Sheraton’s main guest facilities and half of the rooms are complete and open for bookings. Located at the beginning of Heroes Highway, this hotel appeals to repeat and large-group visitors who want reliability, modern rooms, strong Wi-Fi, and a consistent experience after long conference days. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the property offers on-site dining and a pool area. But my favourite part is the décor and,, in one wor, the feelingd – beautiful.

The trade-off is distance. You’ll need transportation to and from the conference and evening events, so you'll need to plan your schedule a bit more carefully. However, many executives prefer this separation as it offers a true retreat from the day. If you didn’t know, the Sheraton is a Marriott brand, so feel free to get those points if you are a member.

Grand Coastal Hotel

A home away from home hotel

Along the same vein is the Grand Coastal Hotel located on the East Coast. GCH appeals to business travellers who also prefer a quieter setting, are within a 20-minute drive of Georgetown, and want to experience a local hotel. It is the practical and preferred choice for returning delegates who have stayed there before, as well as for new delegates who schedule meetings outside the conference or city. The hotel offers comfortable rooms, dependable service, on-site dining, a pool,  a newly renovated bar with quarterly cocktail specials, and enough amenities to support a productive stay without distractions. They also have a dedicated transportation service, which you can pre-book any rides you need.

While it requires a commute to the conference, many returning visitors appreciate the “welcome home” feeling of Grand Coastal, especially on a Wednesday night when they have their very popular “Flavours of Guyana” buffet – a must-do for international delegates. For professionals who value routine, rest, and efficiency over proximity to the conference buzz, this hotel might fit your rhythm.

Pegasus Corporate Suites

Longer stays and high-level Execs.

Pegasus Corporate Suites is a favorite among senior executives and some professionals who are staying longer than just the conference week, such as your diplomatic communities, Country Managers, and others, especially if they are conference speakers. Designed specifically for business travellers, the suites offer apartment-style living with kitchens, workspaces, and plenty of room to spread out. If you are juggling calls across time zones, reviewing contracts late at night, or hosting small private meetings, Pegasus Corporate Suites offers the best option for you.

It is a 10-minute walk from the Georgetown Marriott Hotel, where the conference is being held. The property offers access to a pool and dining options at the sister hotel next door. However, most amenities associated with the corporate suites are available directly in each suite. Any additional hospitality amenities are available at the sister hotel.

Airbnb Options Across Georgetown and Beyond

Flexibility, privacy, and living like a local

If you have been to Guyana multiple times, are planning a longer-term stay, and value your independence and privacy, Airbnb has become an increasingly popular choice during Energy Conference week. From modern apartments in Kingston and Bel Air to executive-style homes on the East Coast and gated communities along the East Bank, Airbnb offers options that feel less like a hotel stay and more like a temporary home base. This setup is ideal for long-stay professionals who need quiet space for virtual meetings, late-night work sessions, or hosting small, off-the-record discussions.

The key advantage is control over your schedule, your meals, and your environment. However, choosing the right Airbnb requires careful vetting. Reliable Wi-Fi, backup power, security, and proximity to main routes are a given at any of the hotel options listed above. And why some Airbnbs would have that, you would need to do more work on the front end to ensure that it does. Pro tip: Look for a super host and always connect with your host before and during your trip (there may be no 24-hour front desk). When done right, an Airbnb can offer a calmer and more personalised stay to help you navigate a busy business week.

No matter where you choose to stay, a few key things to remember:– book early if you can, check out the amenities to make sure it fits your needs, ask about transportation services, balance your needs from proximity, price, nd peace of mind, and tap into all of the local recommendations you will get! Enjoy the 2026 Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo, and be sure to say hi if you see me around.
